Join us for Canyon Echoes, an immersive handpan retreat taking place from Thursday, November 6th to Monday, November 10th in the stunning landscape of Fruita, Colorado. This event is designed for handpan players of all skill levels, from those just beginning their journey to seasoned veterans. Our world-class teachers will meet you where you are, providing personalized guidance to deepen your connection with the instrument and explore your unique musical voice.
Prepare for three full days of handpan awesomeness, including enriching workshops, personalized one-on-one sessions, dynamic jam sessions, and more. Discover the art of composing your own music, mastering new techniques, and refining your skills as a player. This intimate retreat, with limited available spaces to foster deep connection, is an incredible opportunity to forge lifelong friendships within the global handpan community.
Our home for the retreat is Our Lady of Perpetual Motion, a beautifully converted stone church with incredible acoustics and a massive vaulted ceiling that makes every handpan note sing. This unique venue, minutes from the awe-inspiring Colorado National Monument offers tons of nooks for breakout jams and quiet contemplation. Experience the unparalleled beauty of the Grand Valley, Colorado's wine country, known for its vibrant arts scene and delicious local produce.
The entire event is proudly presented by Planet Handpan, ensuring a truly exceptional experience. You'll also enjoy delicious, organic, meals expertly prepared by our amazing chef, Brianna Goodall. The retreat culminates in a special public concert on Sunday, November 9th, where you'll have the incredible opportunity to showcase your growth and perform alongside your peers and the event's amazing artists for the local Western Colorado community. We'll also have some exciting excursions planned, including hikes through the Colorado National Monument and a drive along the infamous Rimrock Road.

Daniel Waples
Daniel Waples is truly a pioneer of the newly invented handpan instrument and is arguably the most recognized player in his field. He travels globally to share his passion and introduce his music to new listeners.
His skills on the handpan are self-taught, and many aspiring players often sight his technique and philosophy of composition as an inspiration.
He works with different styles of music, mixing them and creating something new and beautifully unique.
Daniel Waples is originally from Greater London. He bought his first handpan in 2007 and since then has been consistently on the road, having not spent any longer than three months in one country.
Now with over 40 million views across YouTube alone, he has recorded 9 albums, performed in front of thousands of people, at hundreds of events in over 50 countries, spanning 5 continents and been a speaker at 6 TEDx events. He supports himself as an independent musician, spreading the sound of the handpan, a new age acoustic musical instrument made from hammered steel.

Mark D'Ambrosio
Mark D'Ambrosio is a percussionist, composer, educator, and rounded musician from Colorado's Front Range. Mark specializes as a player of the handpan, a new and unique percussion instrument. He has performed as a soloist and taught throughout Colorado, the greater United States, Europe, and China.
When not performing Mark is an avid composer, arranger, and music producer; his music has received critical acclaim and has been featured in numerous creative projects. As an author Mark is the creator of the “Hal Leonard Handpan Method” the first ever handpan method book published in the United States and his writings have been featured in such publications as the Percussive Arts Society’s “Rhythm! Scene Magazine.”
Additionally, he is the founder and CEO of PlanetHandpan.com and is a founder and the current president of the Steel Mountain Handpan Gathering, Colorado’s largest Handpan event. Mark holds a BA in Percussion from Colorado Mesa University.
