The Basics
Who?
You of course! Steel Mountain is an event open to everyone and anyone regardless of whether you are old or young, own a handpan or not, are a veteran musician or are just starting out! There is truly something here for everyone so come on out and bring your friends!
What?
Simply put Steel Mountain is an annual gathering of players, builders, and enthusiasts of the handpan instrument. Steel Mountain happens over the course of four days of hanging out, meeting new people, playing music, attending workshops, and concerts.
When?
August 15th - 19th 2024
Where?
Steel Mountain takes place at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Estes Park is the perfect place for hiking, biking, exploring, or simply taking in the 360-degree mountain views.
Why?
Well, if you have read this far, you probably already know the answer to this question! Steel Mountain is the perfect opportunity to escape from everyday life to both connect with others and rediscover yourself through the power of the handpan.
Further Details
Lodging
Steel Mountain has reserved the Pattie Hyde Barclay Cabin for our gathering attendees to stay for the week of the event. This spacious cabin building houses multi-person rooms and is the central meeting hub and dining area for the event. We also book rooms in the Central and East Side Lodges if you would like a private room, or if all main cabin tickets have sold. Your lodging costs are included in your ticket price, so there is no need to book a room through the YMCA independently.
Saturday Night "Sounds of Steel" Concert
Saturday night will feature our annual "Sounds of Steel" handpan concert. A night of handpan music by our headlining artists, Sounds of Steel will happen in the YMCA's Hemple Auditorium and is open to the public. Concert tickets can be found under the "Sounds of Steel" tab. Full gathering attendees do not need to purchase tickets as these are included with their full weekend ticket.
Food
Your ticket to Steel Mountain includes three meals a day for the duration of the event. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, midday, and evening snacks are served daily. Dietary restrictions are accommodated for and can be specified in your online registration.

When arriving to Steel Mountain come directly to the Pattie Hyde Barclay Cabin and meet with our check-in team. Here you will get keys to your room and have a chance to have any of your questions answered.
